How to Cook Lobster Tail for a Presentation
When you spend the extra money to serve lobster tail, it should taste delicious and look impressive when arranged on the plate. While there are many ways to cook lobster, baking the lobster tail atop its shell will produced a delicious and impressive looking entrée. This will involve removing the meat partially from its shell, but leaving it attached at the fin. After most of the tail meat is pulled from the interior of the shell it will lay atop the hard shell for the cooking and presentation. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Sanitized hand shears (such as wire or metal cutters)
- Lobster tail
- Broiler pan with rack
- Melted butter
- Fresh lemon juice
- Paprika
- Soufflé cup

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

Cut a straight line down the center of the hard outer shell of the lobster tail, using the shears. Begin at the cut end of the lobster tail and stop cutting when you reach the tail fin.

Pull the meat of the lobster through the cut slit, so that it rests atop the lobster shell. Do this gently so that you do not damage the appearance of the meat or chip the shell. Gently pull apart the cut slit to make room for the meat to fit through. Do not detach the meat from the tail fin.

Fill the bottom of the broiler pan with water and set its rack back on top of the pan.

Place the lobster tail (meat side up) on the broiler rack.

Drizzle a little butter and little fresh lemon juice over the lobster meat and sprinkle with a little paprika.

Bake in the preheated oven at 500 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Serve with a soufflé cup of melted butter.

Do not use a dull shear or knife to cut the tail, as it can damage the shell and cause personal injury.
