How to Convert RCI Points Into a Cruise
Resort Condominiums International (RCI) is a well established time-share data base corporation. Within its headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, RCI maintains a never-ending system of more than five thousand properties throughout the world. RCI developed a successful travel subsidiary and introduced the RCI Points Program. This lets you, as a member of RCI, amass points for a vacation aboard all major cruise lines, including RCCL, NCL Carnival and Princess Cruise Lines.

Contact RCI and request that your existing membership be linked into the RCI points travel partner program. You must own actually a timeshare and be a member of RCI to participate or make this request.

Convert your owned week(s) into the point account rather than securing an exchange for another RCI timeshare for your vacation. The point system allows saving for a cruise vacation. Accumulating points by depositing an unused week of your owned timeshare is done either online or by phoning RCI.

Depending on where your timeshare is located, its assigned week, unit size determines the number of points you receive when you exchange your owned week(s) into the RCI point system.

Check the status of your account online for the amount of points you have obtained online. Your points must be in your account for 90 days or more to entitle you to receive 100 percent of the point value. 75 percent is allocated to you between 46 to 89 days. 50 percent of point value is obtained from 30 days to 45 days with no points utilized towards a cruise if your time share is deposited for points under 30 days.

Connect with the RCI Travel Desk, which is listed in the RCI directory you received as a member or online. Request the date, cruise line and ship you desire for your holiday.

Confirmation of your cruise will be given within 24 hours and your points will be removed from your RCI Points program. Points can be purchased at a set fee per point to make up the difference of not having enough points available in your account at time of booking.

Documents will be mailed in time for your departure and you are on your way for your cruise vacation paid for by points.

Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
You need to own a timeshare to participate in points for cruises. An RCI agent can help you purchase a timeshare in one of their affiliated resorts or steer you to timeshare re-sale agents.

Collection of number of points needed for a cruise varies on the time of year, itinerary, cabin and number of days for the cruise. You must be ready to confirm the reservation of the cruise vacation you wish to choose.
If you need more points than you own and if you don't want to borrow from future years you purchase points from RCI for 2 cents per point, up to 50% of the points required for the transaction
Membership into RCI is not free and requires yearly membership dues for its members. Additional dues are mandatory for membership into the RCI point system. Any reservations made for a cruise constitutes RCI Points Partners transaction fees.
Even if you have the required number of points for a cruise, there is only a certain amount of cruise inventory allocated to RCI's program partners that accept points.
