How to Play the Game Oodles

Oodles, published by Milton Bradley in 1992, is a word-based party game. Much like Scattergories, it requires knowledge of words and the ability to interpret those words in a variety of ways. Like Outburst, it requires you to utilize this knowledge as quickly as you possibly can. While the basics of Oodles are easy to learn, the nature of the questions can be somewhat challenging. Regardless, this game proves to be successful as a party game for many people.

Things You'll Need

  • "Oodle" stick
  • Electronic timer
  • Deck of Oodle cards

Instructions

    • 1

Determine which player starts first. This can be done however you like. Give that player the oodle stick.

    • 2

Begin the round by asking the starting player questions from an oodle card. Each card has 10 questions on it, beginning with a "Silly Starter." The silly starter is asked to the player with the oodle stick, and if she answers correctly, then she begins to answer the questions on the card.

    • 3

Let the player have only one guess at the answer. If the player is incorrect, the moderator calls an "all play" and reads the question again. The first player to guess correctly can keep answering questions on the card until they reach the end of the card or answer a question incorrectly. In the event of a tie, both players have an opportunity to answer the next question.

    • 4

Allow the player to keep the card if she answers the last question on it correctly. In the case of a tie on the last question, or if no one can answer the last question, the first question from another card is read and the first person to answer correctly receives the card. The first player to have five cards is the winner of the game.
