How to Hook Up a Comcast DVR

If you obtain your television programming through Comcast you may have known you can upgrade your package to include a DVR. A DVR, or digital video recorder is a device that can record the shows and events from your cable receiver in real time. If you do decide to upgrade to a Comcast DVR, a cable technician may be required to stop by and replace your current cable receiver with receiver/DVR device.

Things You'll Need

• Comcast cable service
• TV
• RCA cables

Instructions

1. Contact Comcast and ask to upgrade to DVR service. Set up a date and time to have the new receiver dropped off at your home.

2. Remove the current Comcast receiver and replace it with the new Comcast DVR receiver. Connect the cable running from the wall into the "In" port on the back of the device.

3. Plug RCA cables into the "Video Out" port of the Comcast DVR receiver. Make sure the same colored cables are inserted into the correct ports (red cable to red port, white to white and yellow to yellow).

4. Insert the other end of the RCA cables into the "Video In" port on the television. Power on the TV and the Comcast DVR and press the "Video" button on the TV remote. You can now begin watching your Comcast television programming. Use the Comcast remote to adjust the channels and record the content.
