How to Unlock Costumes on Ultimate Spider-Man

"Ultimate Spider-Man" plays very similarly to the other Activision Spider-Man titles in that it gives you a wide-open game world in which to play around. Only unlike the Spider-Man games, which were based largely on the feature films, "Ultimate Spider-Man" is based fully in the comic book world of the "Ultimate Spider-Man" series. Unlocking the many different costumes for Peter Parker requires you to complete some awesome achievements in the game, which will take time and dedication.

Instructions

    • 1

Engage in "city events" to help you in your quest to unlock the different outfits for Spider-Man. City events include stopping runaway vehicles, capturing robbers and breaking up fights between rival street gangs. You will have to complete 30 of these events (in addition to collecting 30 tokens) before you unlock your first costume: Spidey Wrestling.

    • 2

Collect tokens scattered throughout the city. There are 100 total tokens hidden in New York, and while many of them are easy to find, some are well hidden and require you to snoop around every inch of the city. Collecting a certain number of tokens will unlock some hidden items in the game, from comic book covers to concept art and, yes, extra costumes. You will need to find 30 tokens before unlocking your first costume, "Spidey Wrestling".

    • 3

Complete "combat tours." These are side missions in which you have to clear a particular area of henchmen, with each wave being harder to beat than the last. Complete at least 20 of these to unlock the "Arachnoman" costume.

    • 4

Place in every possible race against Johnny Storm (The Human Torch). Win at least four of these races to unlock the Peter Parker outfit. You need to have at least a bronze grade in every race to unlock the Black Suit, in addition to completing many other goals as seen in step 5.

    • 5

Do everything. To unlock the Black Spider-Man Suit you have to collect all tokens, finish bronze in every race, finish each combat tour and resolve all city events. This will take a long time.

Tips & Warnings

  • The above works on all gaming platforms on which Ultimate Spider-Man is playable, sans the Game Boy Advance version of the title.

  • If you don't have the time to go through all of this, you can unlock all outfits by going to the controller set-up screen inside the pause menu and entering the following button presses on your controller's D-Pad: Right, Down, Right, Down, Left, Up, Left, Up.

  • Be careful when saving game files, especially new game files. If you override the file where you are trying to unlock everything, you can't recover it and you are out dozens of hours.
