How to Download Music to a Powerpoint Presentation
The PowerPoint application for Windows includes useful functions and add-ins to incorporate multimedia to play seamlessly within the slide presentation. Music can be downloaded to a presentation by embedding the audio file as an object on a specific slide. PowerPoint versions 2003 and 2007 support playing MP3 songs using the built-in object tools and utilities. Users can select whether the song will play automatically when the slide is displayed or begin playing when the mouse button is clicked. Embedded music files can be saved as part of the presentation file.

Tips & Warnings
Organize the order of the animated objects so that the music file plays at the start of the slide by selecting the object file and clicking the "Up" arrow button in the Custom Animation frame to place it as a starting action.
To stream music across multiple slides or through the duration of the slide show, insert the audio files as a linked sound file by selecting "Sound from File" under the "Insert" function and "Movies and Sounds" category (top menu bar or 2007 main toolbar). This file will not be embedded (downloaded) as part of the PowerPoint presentation.
Music files in MP3 format and less than 50 MB in size can be embedded as objects in the slide. According to Microsoft, files greater than 50 MB in size will slow down the application, and therefore the slide show. Microsoft recommends that objects (especially media files) greater than 50 MB in size are embedded as linked objects to maintain optimal playback of the presentation.
Embedded audio or media files will only play on the specific slide. Embedded music objects will not stream across several slides.
