How to Convert CD Music to WMV File Format
Converting an audio CD to a MWV file first requires you to burn the CD audio to a MP3 file and then convert the MP3 to a WMV file. WMV is short for Windows Media Video, which is a file format used with the Microsoft Media Player. You can convert a CD to WMV by using an audio recording program, such as Audacity, to create an MP3 file and then a program, such as SUPER, to convert the MP3 into a WMV file.

Download and install the Audacity audio recorder program. Save the file to your desktop, and then double click on the file to install the program.

Download and install the Lame MP3 encoder. Save the file to your desktop, and then double click on the file to install the program.

Double click on the Audacity icon from your desktop to open the program.

Insert an audio CD into the drive on your computer, and play it using a media player such as Windows Media Player.

Click the "Record" button in Audacity to begin recording the audio. The Record button is one with the red dot.

Click the "Stop" button when the audio track has finished. The stop button is the button with the yellow square.

Select "File" and then "Export" as MP3 from the drop down menu.

Enter a name for the MP3 file and choose a location to save the file, such as your desktop.
Convert MP3 to WMV

Download and install the Super media encoder program. Save the file to your desktop, and then double click on the file to install the program.

Double click the "SUPER" icon on your desktop to open the program. Select WMV as the output type from the Select the Output Container drop down menu.

Right click in the gray box under the Output section and select "Add Video Files" from the context menu. Locate the MP3 file you created from Audacity and click the "Open" button.

Click the "Encode" button to begin, and wait for the program to finish the conversion.

Tips & Warnings
The WMV file created with SUPER will be in the same location as the MP3 file.
Running additional programs when converting files can make the conversion process take longer.
