How to Install a Wall Mount Telephone Jack With a DSL Filter
Installing DSL service or a DSL modem to connect your computer system to the Internet will require you to install a DSL filter to each of your phone jacks. A DSL filter is used to eliminate the noise that is created when the DSL line has been installed. One type of DSL filter that you may need to install on one of your phone jacks is called a wall mount DSL filter.

Locate an existing phone jack or outlet in a wall. If the only jack you have available has a phone installed, it will need to be unlocked and removed.

Pull up on the locking lever on the side or top of the phone to unlock it, and then lift the phone off of the phone jack.

Unplug the phone cord from the outlet, if a phone is currently attached.

Plug the cord for the wall mount DSL filter into the phone jack.

Align the filter with the mounting pegs on the phone jack.

Press down on the filter gently to secure it on the phone jack.

Press the locking tabs on the DSL filter down to lock it into place.

Plug the phone cord from the phone into the wall mount filter.

Place the phone over the filter and push down to secure it.

Pull down on the locking lever, if applicable, to secure the phone to the filter.

Tips & Warnings
You can purchase a wall mount filter from most computer retailers or order one online.
If the wall mount filter is installed incorrectly the phone will not attach properly.
