How to Choose a Great Business Name
Regardless of what type of business you start, online or off, you need a remarkable business name. The name that you come up with could even be a beginning of a new brand. You want people to recognize your business name when they see it, giving them a good idea of what you're all about. A great business name is one that your customers will remember.

1
Start brainstorming. Make sure you write down all of the names that you like. Try to envision how people will react to the names you are considering. Create a rating system to determine which names you like the most.
-
2
Experiment with different word combinations. A great business name can evoke certain feelings or reactions in your customers. For example, alliteration -- repeating the initial sounds in all of the words -- can be witty and bring a smile to someone's face, such as Fran's Fine Fashions.

Go over your list with someone who you trust and whose opinion you value. You may want to select a group of friends and family members to brainstorm additional names with you based on what you've come up with so far.
-
4
Research the names on your short list. Be careful when choosing a name in order not to infringe on already existing trademarks. You must check both registered and unregistered trademarks.
-
5
Revise a name on your list if it is too similar to a business name that already is trademarked. You still can work with a good idea, but make it different enough to avoid confusion with a similar name and to avoid legal consequences.
