How to Plant Vegetables in Miracle Grow Potting Soil
Miracle-Gro potting soil contains a continuous release fertilizer designed to feed plants for up three months. When seedlings are planted in this soil, as opposed to ordinary potting soil, you do not need to provide supplemental fertilizer. Watering the plant regularly releases the nutrients necessary for healthy lush growth. This makes growing vegetable seedlings inside, for transplanting to the garden once the soil has warmed, relatively carefree. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Start seeds in seed starter 4 to 12 weeks prior to the last expected frost. Refer to the seed packet for recommended times for starting your particular seed. The date of planting varies among vegetables, with some requiring a few weeks and others requiring 8 to 12 weeks.

2
Transplant seedlings to Miracle-Gro potting soil once they are 4 inches high and have the second set of true leaves.

3
Fill pots 3/4 full of the appropriate potting soil. Miracle-Gro produces specific soils for cacti, orchids, African violets and all-purpose soils. Each mixture is specifically designed to meet the growing needs of those specific plants. Read the label carefully to determine which mixture to buy.
-
4
Place seedlings in the soil to the original growing depth. Fill in around the roots and stem with soil and firm down lightly with your hands to secure the seedling and remove air pockets.
-
5
Water thoroughly and keep soil evenly moist until new growth appears and the seedling is established. Water when the soil dries to the touch and place plants in the appropriate lighting. For most garden vegetables, a sunny location is ideal.
