How to Configure a Verizon SMTP in Outlook

Verizon offers high-speed Internet access that provides its customers with up to nine separate email accounts. While it is not difficult to create and retrieve email messages at the Verizon webmail site, you may prefer to set up your Verizon email within Outlook so that you can benefit from the program's tools and features. Learn how to configure your Verizon SMTP and other settings properly in the Outlook version you are using.

      Open Outlook. Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Email Accounts." Click on "Add a New Email Account" and click "Next." Select "POP-3" under "Server Type" and click "Next" again.

      Enter your full name as you want email recipients to view it in the "Your Name" field. Enter your complete Verizon email address in the "Email Address" field. Be sure to include the @verizon.net extension.

      Type "incoming.verizon.net" in the "(POP3)" field. Type "outgoing.verizon.net" in the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" field. Enter your Verizon user name and password in the "Logon Information" fields. Do not include the verizon.net extension at the end of your user name.

      Click the "Test Account Settings" button to verify that your Verizon account is working. Once this is confirmed, click the "More Settings" button.

      Go to the "General" tab and type "Verizon Online" in the "Mail Account" section. Click "OK," "Next" and "Finish."
