How to Invite Someone to Chat on MSN

Sending Chat Invitations on the Microsoft Network (MSN) is just as easy as sending an instant message or email. Windows Live Messenger, formerly known as MSN Messenger, allows you to send alerts to contacts that are or appear offline. These are referred to as Chat Invitations. Sending a Chat Invitation will send an instant message alert and an email to your contact to let them know you wish to chat with them.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Windows Live Messenger," found in your Start Menu, and wait for it to load on your screen.

    • 2

Log into Windows Live Messenger by entering your username and password. Select "Log in."

    • 3

Right-click the offline Contact list and choose with whom you would like to chat. Select "Send Chat Invitation." Enter the contact's email address and select "Send." An email will be sent to his inbox, and an instant message will load when he signs in. You can also do this for someone who is not on your contact list. Select "Actions," then scroll down and select "Send Invitation." When prompted, enter the person's email address. An email will be sent to their inbox. Select "Sign Off" to close Windows Live Messenger.
