1
Buy the factory recommended type of detergent. Most front loaders require a special type of laundry detergent that can be more expensive. This detergent is specifically made to form low suds when going through a cycle.
-
2
Gather all your clothing to be placed in one load ahead of time. Unlike top load washing machines, a front loader cannot be stopped after it has started a cycle. Most brands of front loading washers have a locking mechanism on the door once a cycle starts. Have all your clothes ready to put in the washer at once so you can prevent having to wait a complete cycle.

3
Place the clothes in the front loader and completely close the door. The washing cycle will not start unless the door is closed. Initiate the washing sequence and add your chosen laundry detergent when prompted by the machine. Some brands do not have a prompting light and simply require you add detergent before starting a washing cycle.

4
Remove your garments when the cycle ends. Front load washers use a spinning cycle that dries clothes more thoroughly than top loaders. This means that you can use a shorter or less heat-intense drying cycle. This will save you money when drying your clothes in your dryer.

Tips & Warnings
Since there is not a center agitator with front load washers, you may add up to 30 percent more clothes in one load than with top loaders. Front loading washers are also gentler on most clothes, making them safer for delicates.
