How to Fund-Raise for Mission Trips
A mission trip can be a life-changing experience. But it can also be expensive, especially if the trip is to a distant location or if it's for an extended time. Furthermore, travel and lodging are only a small part of the overall cost, as many mission trips involve taking along supplies and gifts. There are hundreds of ways to raise money for your mission trip. Raise support through a mail campaign. According to SNU, $2,500 is the average amount you can expect from sending out a well-written letter to 75 friends and family members. The letter should discuss where you are going, what you'll be doing and why you're going, according to MissionAdventures.net.

Send an email in addition to the printed letter. You could even include a donation link in your email. Ask the recipients to forward the email to anyone else who might be interested in donating.

Reach out to local churches. Ask the church that you attend, as well as other churches in your area if you could make a short presentation or leave information packets in the foyer. Churches could help you publicize the trip, give you direct financial support and even help you with other fund-raising ideas.

Ask churches to take up a special collection. Most churches will not do that for a random person or group. But if it is a church you've attended or a church you have a special relationship with, this may be an option.

Get creative. Have a car wash, a group garage sale, a raffle or a community barbecue. Sell T-shirts. Any idea like these that can be organized quickly and done relatively inexpensively is a great way to raise money.
