How to Make a Scarf Out of Fleece Material
The scarf can be a helpful piece of apparel in wintertime. Finding a scarf that matches your coat and gloves, however, can be difficult. Plus, scarves can be expensive. You can make your own scarf by following one of two simple patterns using fleece. Because fleece is inexpensive, you will be able to make a cheap scarf that matches your other cold-weather accessories. Does this Spark an idea?

Two-Tone Scarf

Cut out four strips of fleece using fabric scissors. You will need two strips in white and two strips in black. Choose different colors if you prefer. The strips should each be 70 inches long and 3 3/4 inches wide.

Use straight pins to attach the four pieces together. They should meet on the long sides of the fabric and should be in alternating colors.

Use a sewing machine to sew along the seams between each strip. The color of thread should coordinate with the colors you choose. Remove the straight pins. You know have one piece of fabric made from the four you started with.

Bring the two long edges together and pin them together to form a tube. All the seams should be on the outside of the tube.

Use a sewing machine to sew along the seam and remove the straight pins.

Turn the fabric inside out so that seams are now inside.

Use scissors to cut fringe on the short sides of the scarf. The fringe should be about 3 inches long and 1 inch thick.

Cut three strips of fleece in three different colors of your choosing. The strips should each be 5 inches wide and 5 feet long.

Stack all three pieces of fleece on top of one another.

Use a sewing machine and a thread of a coordinating color to sew the three strips together. Make sure you sew directly down the center of the fleece, long ways.

Cut 1-inch-wide strips into the fabric. The strips should go across the width of the fleece and stop about a half-inch from the center were you sewed the strips together. Make sure you cut down the entire length of the fleece.

Fluff up the strips to finish the scarf.
