How to Make Round Flower Beds

Making or planting flower beds is an efficient way in beautifying your landscape through the use of floral gardens. Flower gardens are made to suit the landscape, as well as the designer or owner of the landscape. Flower beds can be made in any shape or design. Usually raised flower beds or square flower beds are used to line the perimeter of the home. Round flower beds can accent the area underneath a tree, or can stand alone as a focal point on the landscape. Making a round flower bed utilizes basic garden design skills.

Things You'll Need

• Hoe or rake
• Shovel
• Garden fencing, stones or brick
• Topsoil

Instructions

1. Clear the area free of grass or weeds using a garden hoe or rake. Rake the area until you have a nice flat round area of freshly tilled earth. You can make the circle as big as you prefer to suit your planting design. Circular flower gardens are most often found around trees or large shrubs.

2. Line the perimeter of the circle with bendable wire garden fencing, or place stone or bricks in a circular pattern. This will accent the area and help protect from soil erosion.

3. Place topsoil inside the perimeter of your circle. Lay an even amount over the entire surface of the circular flower bed.

4. Plant your flowers according to your design inside the flower bed. Typically, gardeners use smaller flowering plants for the perimeter of the bed and taller flowers toward the center.
