Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Mac Mini. Unplug any power cords and remove the battery. Make sure all lights are off to be certain the machine is completely powered down.

    • 2

Remove any auxiliary parts including keyboards, mouse and monitors. Take out external hard drives and remove all cords for speakers, microphones or headsets.

    • 3

Dampen a lint-free cloth with water only. Test your cloth on a clean, dry surface before wiping the computer. The cloth should leave no trace of water on the test area. Wipe the Mac Mini beginning with the top surface and moving to the sides and back. Lift carefully to clean the bottom.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wiping the keyboard and surface area of your Mac Mini with a dry, lint-free cloth each day will reduce the number of times you need to damp-cloth clean the unit.

  • Do not spray water or any cleaning solution directly onto your Mac Mini. Seepage can do irreversible damage to the internal parts.

Within its first year, my Mac Mini did run so quiet I had to check the tiny white light (located in front on the lower right bottom) more than once just to make sure it was powered on. However, over the last months the case has become increasingly hot to the touch, even with the fan spinning at 4500rpm - which means it run almost as noisy as a windows PC. Today I checked the bottom of the case and was shocked to discover dust blocking all of them little venting holes. Even using plyers did not help to eliminate all that lint. Gotta use a vacuum cleaner in the morning. Don't believe anyone telling you that Macs don't need dust removal ever so often!
