How to Play the Game Cat & Mouse With Kids Using a Parachute

Kids are not always easy to organize, but a parachute can provide an excellent distraction and fun gaming possibilities. Cat and Mouse lets kids run around and release their energy in a structured manner. Just find a parachute and 10 to 20 kids, explain the rules, and begin.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the materials and players. You will need a parachute and 10 to 20 players. Children of all ages and adults can all play together. Choose an open or outdoor space to play the game, as the parachute will have to be spread out and the game is somewhat loud.

    • 2

Explain the rules. It is always important that children understand the rules of a game before they start to play. Explaining them thoroughly will help prevent fighting and unnecessary shouting.

    • 3

Choose the cat and mice. Five mice and one cat generally work, but you can play around with the numbers.

    • 4

Send the cat and mice under the parachute, while the other children wave it up and down over the cat and mice's heads. While waving the parachute, begin counting down from 30, or a larger number if the kids are very young.

    • 5

Instruct the cat to chase the mice under the parachute. When a mouse is caught, it must stay where it is under the parachute. The cat must catch all the mice before the count is over.

    • 6

When the count ends, bring the parachute down on the cat and mice's heads. Any frozen mice must remain mice. If the cat did not catch all the mice, it must also remain a mouse under the parachute. Any mice that escaped or a winning cat can leave the parachute.

    • 7

Select a new cat and new mice and begin the game again.
