How to Care for Semi Porcelain Dinnerware
Semi porcelain dinnerware is made of earthenware, but looks similar to porcelain. Semi porcelain dinnerware can be delicate, it will crack or break if dropped on a hard surface. It can handle most kinds of cleaning chemicals, but you should avoid using anything too abrasive on it. Abrasive cleaners leave minuscule scratches that dull the dinnerware's shiny glaze and make it more open to surface stains. To keep your semi porcelain dinnerware looking beautiful, treat it as you would fine china--both in how you clean it and how you handle it. Does this Spark an idea?

Use a rubber sink mat (or foam padding) in your kitchen sink to protect this dinnerware as you wash it. Fill your sink with warm water and add a tbsp. of dish soap. Add the dinnerware, make sure that if dinnerware is very hot or cold you should allow it to come to room temperature before placing it in the water. According to the Michigan State University Extension, sudden changes can affect the glaze on some ceramic/earthenware items.

Tips & Warnings
If you are moving to a new house, pack this dinnerware securely. Use newspaper or bubble wrap between each piece so they do not knock against each other during transit. Place them in heavy-duty cardboard boxes.
If you have tea stains in your dinnerware cups, the Michigan State University Extension recommends using bleach and water to clean them (2 tbsp. of bleach per qt. of water). Soak them for 2 minutes and then rinse them well.
