How to Stick Bird Seed to Craft Sticks

If you are searching for a kid's project that will give them something to make and help them appreciate backyard wildlife at the same time, consider creating a bird feeder out of birdseed, peanut butter, and craft sticks. Kids will enjoy coating the craft sticks with peanut butter, then rolling them in birdseed. The peanut butter is a delicious treat for the birds and works effectively to make the birdseed stick to the craft sticks.

Things You'll Need

• Craft sticks
• Creamy peanut butter
• Butter knife
• Shallow pan
• Birdseed

Instructions

1. Spread the peanut butter onto the craft sticks. Coat both sides of the craft sticks completely except for 1 inch at the bottom.

2. Pour the birdseed into the shallow pan.

3. Roll each prepared craft stick into the birdseed to cover the peanut butter completely. Press the craft sticks down into the birdseed to make sure the seed sticks well.

Tips & Warnings

• You can hang your stick feeders with a little bit of twine. Cut a 4-foot long piece of twine and tie the sticks along its length, approximately 6 inches apart. Hang your new bird feeder around a tree branch.
