How to Calculate Square Inches of an HDTV Monitor

Calculating the area of an HDTV monitor in square inches is an easy task. There are two important things to remember. First is to use inches for your measurements. Otherwise, you will have to perform some difficult math to get the answer in square inches. Second is to make sure you are measuring the edges of the case and not the screen. If you measure the screen, you will calculate screen size, not monitor size.

Things You'll Need

• Measuring tape delineated in inches
• Calculator (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure the height of the HDTV monitor in inches.

2. Measure the width of the HDTV monitor in inches.

3. Multiply the width and height measurements together. The result is the area of the HDTV monitor in square inches.
