How to Find an IP Address Using a Mac

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique address to identify every computer that is connected to a computer network. Finding your IP address on a Macintosh is a simple process and can be done by opening up the system profiler.

      Click the Apple logo in the upper left-hand part of the screen. Doing this will present you with several options. Choose "About This Mac."

      You will then see a new window that gives the computer's specifications, such as how much RAM it has and what kind of processor it is using. Click the "More Info" button at the bottom. This will launch the system profiler.

      In the left panel of the system profiler, look for the "Network" option and click it. This will change the viewing window to show you your network settings and connections. You can find the computer's IP address by looking for the "IPv4 Addresses:" label in this window.
