How to Clean Leather Coat Lining
A number of commercial cleaners are available for cleaning leather products that make it easy to keep your leather coat clean and conditioned. However, unless your coat has a removable liner, the inside of the coat can get dirty and a contract an odor from wear. Professional leather cleaning can be costly and is pointless if the leather is already clean. With a little time and a couple of items you probably already have in your home, you can clean the lining of your leather coat. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Vacuum with brush attachment
- Powdered laundry detergent
- Plastic container
- Sponge

Vacuum the lining using a brush attachment. Do not use attachments or settings that create strong suction or the lining can tear at the seams. Vacuuming the lining removes loose dirt and dust.

Pour 1/4 cup powdered laundry detergent into a plastic container and add two cups of warm water. Mix the laundry detergent with the water until it completely dissolves.

Dampen a sponge with the laundry detergent cleaning solution and wash the lining of the jacket with the sponge. Be careful not to saturate the lining.

Hang the jacket to dry. If you need to wear the jacket before the lining is completely dry, use a blow dryer to finish drying the lining before you wear the jacket.

To keep the lining of your jacket as fresh as possible, hang the jacket in a location where it is left open to air.
