How to Disinfect Nail Clippers
Disinfecting your nail clippers is an important way to avoid nail fungus, which, according to the Podiatry Channel, causes nails to thicken, discolor and split. It is a simple but effective process that can be completed in under 20 minutes. The skill set required is small; if you can boil water, you can disinfect your nail clippers.

1
Remove any dirt that might be caked onto the nail clippers. To do this, boil water in an old pot (preferably one you aren't going to use again), and add some dishwashing detergent. Soak the nail clippers in this mixture for about 10 minutes.

2
Dab rubbing alcohol onto a soft cloth or tissues. Wipe the nail clippers with the alcohol to disinfect them. Alternatively, you can pour rubbing alcohol over the clippers in order to reach all the small crevices.

Dry the nail clippers thoroughly to keep them from rusting. You can do this with a blow dryer. Be mindful that the clippers will be hot to the touch. Or you can manually dry the clippers with an absorbent towel.

Tips & Warnings
You can do a mini-cleaning of your nail clippers by rubbing them with alcohol after each use.
Nail clippers are fairly inexpensive, so if the blade is getting dull, you should consider purchasing a new set instead of disinfecting the old ones.
