Instructions

    • 1

Check the care tag on the Army blanket to be sure that washing it by hand in cold water is acceptable. If there is no tag, call the manufacturer or the retailer who sold you the blanket. As long as the blanket is washable, you can clean it yourself. If it is dry-clean only, take it to a professional.

    • 2

Fill a bathtub with ice cold water. Do not use warm or hot water, as this can cause the blanket to shrink.

    • 3

Add a small amount of special wool wash to the bathtub, following the manufacturer's instructions on the package. Most detergents will instruct you to add roughly a capful of detergent to the water. With your hand, mix the detergent into the water.

    • 4

Place the blanket into the tub of cold water, making sure it is completely covered by water. Soak for one hour.

    • 5

Drain the water out of the tub and then rinse the blanket under cold water. Gently press out any excess water.

    • 6

Roll the blanket between towels to remove excess moisture and then hang it over a drying rack to dry in a well-ventilated area.
