How to Extend a PC Projector Lamp's Life
A PC projector uses a rather expensive lamp to project images from your computer onto a wall or projection screen. Because of the price of replacement lamps, it is a good idea to do all you can to extend the life of a PC projector's lamp.

1
Keep the projector's exhaust vent clean so it can take in air without being hindered. Blocking the vent will restrict the airflow and can cause the projector to overheat.
-
2
Place the projector at least two feet away from any wall. This will maximize the amount of air that can circulate and cool the lamp.
-
-
3
Clean the intake vent every few weeks to clear off any dust that may be building up.
-
4
Wait at least five minutes to turn off the projector after you have turned it on. This allows the fan in the projector to properly cool the lamp.
-
5
Power on your projector after purchase and leave the display on for at least 20 hours. A lamp will most likely fail within the first 10 hours, so if the bulb is going to fail early, it is best to get it over and get a replacement bulb free under the warranty.
