Instructions

    • 1

Put on safety glasses and work gloves.

    • 2

Prepare the pad at the new location for the shed. Dig out the four corners enough to allow a floor jack and plywood to lower the shed onto the 4x4 pressure treated skids and ground.

    • 3

      Empty out the shed.

    • 4

Add temporary stabilizer 2x4s to the interior of the shed to help support it during the move. Use 2x4 lumber to cross-brace the shed's interior from wall to wall. Screw them to the interior studs.

    • 5

Use a spade shovel to dig out the four corners of the shed. Dig deep enough to fit a floor jack and a 12-inch by 12-inch piece of 3/4-inch plywood to set the jack on under the shed's corner.

    • 6

Place the jacks and plywood under the side of the shed in the direction of travel. One piece of 3/4-inch plywood below the jack and one above to distribute the weight at the corner. Jack up this side of the shed slowly alternating between the two jack to about 9 inches above the pad level.

    • 7

Look under the shed to see if there are 4x4 pressure treated skids running in the direction of travel. If there are, proceed to Step 8. If there are no skids, you will need to lower this side of the shed on some concrete blocks.

    • 8

Repeat Step 6. Next slide two 4x4 pressure treated post under the shed running in the direction of travel and securely attach them with pressure treated deck screws. Space them equally under the shed.

    • 9

Jack up the shed enough to roll 2 pieces of schedule 40 PVC pipe under the shed running them in the opposite direction to the shids. Get the first piece of PVC as close to the center as possible. The second should be about 12-inches under the shed.

    • 10

Repeat Step 8 on the opposite side of the shed but place only one piece of PVC 12-inches under the shed. Lower the shed slowly.

    • 11

Roll the shed slowly on the three pieces of PVC pipe. As one is left behind, move it to in front of the shed so it is the next piece of PVC the shed rolls along. Keep rolling the shed to the new location.

    • 12

To change directions repeat directions starting with Step 7. Attach two additional 4x4 posts running in the opposite direction to the others and attach with screws.

    • 13

Jack up the shed and rest the shed on concrete block. Remove the PVC pipe and any extra 4x4 skid. Lower the shed onto the new pad.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the straightest pressure-treated 4x4s

  • The shed will be heavy--don't try to move by yourself.
