How to Find iTunes Artwork

If you have imported your music from your CD collection, your music's album art will not always appear automatically in iTunes. You can easily add album art for your music using iTunes tools. Album art makes your music library more colorful and complete, and is essential for certain views in iTunes that feature album art, such as Grid and Cover Flow.

  1. Find Album Art

      Open iTunes and find the "Advanced" menu at the top of the screen.

      Select "Get Album Art." A new window will open asking you if you are sure you want to get album art. Click "Yes." ITunes will begin searching for album art for your entire music library. Depending on the size of your library, this might take several minutes. Once the search is finished, a results window will open. It might tell you that iTunes was unable to find album art for a few songs.

      Click the arrow next to "notifications" to find out which songs are still missing album art. You can add album art for those songs manually. Search for the album's cover art at online music stores or on wikipedia, and save the image file to your desktop.

      Return to iTunes. Highlight the song in your library that you want to add art for. Go to the "File" menu at the top of the screen and select "Get Info." A new window will open. Select "Artwork" and then "Add," and browse your computer's files for the album art you have just found and saved. Select the file and click "OK" and it will be added to your music library.
