How to Fix Split Nails
Many women and an increasing number of men regularly care for their nails. They do so either at a professional nail salon or at home using nail tools such as nail files and buffers. Weak or brittle nails may develop partial vertical splits or split into layers next to the top edge. A split nail can be both uncomfortable and a source of self-consciousness. Things You'll Need
- Nail clippers or scissors
- Nail glue
- Orangewood stick
- Glue-setting product
- Nail buffer
- Nail polish

Cut the spout on the tube of nail glue at an angle with nail clippers or scissors.

Dispense the glue, but do not press on the tube as you do so. Wait until a drop of glue comes out of the spout on its own.

Apply the nail glue with the rounded end of an orangewood stick; press a small drop of glue over the split.

Apply a glue-setting product to the split area, which will help to set the glue more quickly.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 once more if necessary.

Move a nail buffer in one direction across the split area to smooth the glue once the second coat has dried.

Apply a coat of polish over the entire nail.
