How to Clean a Tonneau Cover

Anyone who has ever had things go missing out of a pickup truck bed will be able to appreciate how useful a tonneau cover is. Loose items cannot just blow out of the truck bed when a tonneau cover is installed. People walking past the truck will also be deterred from picking up loose items because they cannot see them. Tonneau covers protect your possessions by keeping them clean and out of sight while improving gas mileage. The biggest problem is the dirt landing on the tonneau cover needs to be cleaned off.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the bucket is sitting on a level surface.

    • 2

Spray the tonneau cover lightly with water so it can soak in a little bit while you are getting the cleaning solution ready.

    • 3

Pour 1/2 cup of the car washing solution into the bucket and fill with warm water.

    • 4

Dip the scrub brush into the cleaning solution and begin to scrub the tonneau cover from the center out to the edges. Scrub using a smooth side to side motion without exerting too much pressure. If you notice that the dirt is not coming off, let the solution soak in and start to work for about five minutes and then scrub again.

    • 5

Rinse the cover with clear water and let it dry completely.

Tips & Warnings

  • This will be easiest to do if you leave the cover on the truck, but be prepared to get a wet stomach.
