How to Get a Microphone Enabled in Skype

In addition, the software allows the user to call a landline telephone and cell phones in most countries for a relatively low price. Tips & Warnings
Skype recommends USB headsets for clarity, but stereo jack-based headphones can also be used.
If people can't hear you, use the microphone settings in the Control Panel on your computer to raise the volume level of the microphone.
Be sure that the microphone is turned on for your headset, and not muted.
