How to File Your Arizona's Weekly Unemployment Claim by Phone

The weekly claims certification process is what prompts your state's unemployment insurance office to pay you for each benefit week. It verifies your eligibility through a series of automated questions. The Arizona Unemployment Insurance (AZUI) office allows you to make your weekly claims by Internet or telephone. If you choose the telephone option, you call the AZUI claims line to make your claim.

Instructions

    • 1

Call the AZUI claims line no earlier than 12:01 a.m. the Sunday after the week in question ends and no later than the following Friday at 6 p.m. The toll-free number is 877-766-8477.

    • 2

Select the option to file a weekly claims certification. Enter your Social Security number and PIN to log in to the system.

    • 3

Use your phone's keypad to answer the series of automated questions about the week in question, including whether you worked and whether you searched for new work.

    • 4

Press the appropriate key when prompted to certify your answers as truthful to the best of your knowledge. Disconnect the phone call when you hear the confirmation message that verifies your answers were sent to the AZUI.

Tips & Warnings

  • The PIN you use to sign in is the one you created when you filed your initial unemployment claim. If you can't remember it, you must call into the claims line and select the option to reset your PIN. Follow the prompts to complete the process.
  • The telephone claims line is closed on any holiday the AZUI offices are closed, including federal holidays.
  • If you miss a week of claims filing, you can't use the automated claims system to reopen your claim. You must speak to a live claims agent to file that week's claim, but the next week you can go back to using the telephone system.
