How to Create a Payroll Check Stub Online

Employers often use payroll software to process their payroll and print paychecks and check stubs. If you run a very small business, you probably cannot afford payroll software or simply do not need it, particularly if you are the sole employee. Having a payroll check stub can come in handy when proof of your income is requested or for record-keeping purposes. If you need to create a payroll check stub, you can do so online.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to paycheckcity.com and register for a free membership. Although you can access their salary/hourly calculator without a free membership, you cannot print your payroll check stub without registering. The registration process is simple: enter your name, email address, phone number, number of employees, and how you discovered the website. Thereafter, they will email you your User ID and access code, which you can change upon logging in.

    • 2

Select the hourly or salary calculator. Pick the associated tax year and your state at the top of the page.

    • 3

Enter your pay, tax, and deduction information as requested. To have your gross pay year-to-date (YTD) amount reflected on your paycheck stub, enter the amount in the related box. If you would like additional federal and state taxes withheld from your paycheck, enter the extra amount in the respective boxes. Note that for voluntary deductions, you would enter deductions such as medical and dental and the fixed amount. For your 401k contributions, enter the percentage or fixed amount. If you do not want taxes deducted from your voluntary deductions, check the type of taxes (e.g., Federal, FICA) you are exempting.

    • 4

Click "calculate" at the bottom of the page to view your calculated paycheck. Your paycheck results will be displayed as follows: gross pay with frequency, taxes withheld, voluntary deductions, and net pay. The basis of the calculations is shown as follows: tax year, gross pay, gross YTD (if applicable), pay frequency, filing status, tax allowances, additional withholding, and deduction percentage.

    • 5

Choose "new calculation" to start a new calculation. Select "print" to print your payroll check stub.
