With a few basic wrapping supplies, and a little creativity, you can turn your potted plant into a gift that is truly unusual. You don't even have to give it away if you don't want to. Instructions

    • 1

Cut a large square piece of heavy-duty foil wrapping paper. Set your potted plant in the middle of it. Foil wrapping paper is the best for this, since possible water leakage that may come from the plant will not damage it.

    • 2

Lift the corners of the wrapping paper up, so that they cover the pot. Smooth the wrinkles down and tape in place.

    • 3

Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go around the wrapped plant pot. Tie in a bow.

    • 4

Trim the top of the wrapping paper so that it is covering the pot only, and not the plant. Decorate the wrapping with gift bows, if you like.

    • 5

Take small pieces of curling ribbon, curl them and tie them to the plant's branches or stems, depending upon the type of plant you are using. If you have a small plant that could resemble a pine tree, attach red velvet bows to make it look festive for the holiday.

    • 6

Tie gift bows to some curling ribbon, and let them dangle from the plant, if you wish.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can mix and match all of the decorating tips, and come up with some of your own in the meantime.

  • If you have a delicate plant, do not put too many bows or decorations on the plant itself, as they may be too heavy and cause damage to the stems or leaves.
