How to Customize Your Own Free Printable iPod Skins
Apple iPods are expensive and can scratch easily. Screen protectors keep the screen from getting scratched. IPod users realized that printable iPod skins not only make the iPod look new longer, but can add a unique, personal touch to your device. With a few clicks of your mouse and some sticker paper, your iPod can have a new look as often as you like.

1
Visit the website www.skinpod.it for free iPod skin templates to download. Click on "Skin Gallery" on the left-hand menu to see the available iPod skin options. Choose your iPod from the list and click on it to see all of the options that you can use as the "base" of your custom skin. If you are planning on using one photo to cover the entire skin, you can choose any of these designs without a problem.
-
2
Click on your choice and click "download" below the image. This will download a JPEG version of the image to your computer. Open that image in Adobe Photoshop.

3
Use the "quick selection" tool from the left-hand menu to select the white sections of the image that represent the iPod screen and click-wheel. Hold down CTRL + X to cut the white space and then CTRL + V to paste it on the same document. If it doesn't automatically paste onto the same place, move it to the exact same place. Click on the "eye" icon to the right in the "Layers" box for that second layer. This will hide the white space for now.
-
4
Open an image you'd like to use for your iPod skin. Copy and paste the image into the skin template or drag and drop a portion of the image over to the template from another Photoshop document. Move the image around until you find your preferred look. Remember the screen and click-wheel will not have the image on them, so take that into account when placing your photo.
-
5
Add text to your skin by using the "T" icon in the left-hand menu. Change the font size, color and style using the options at the top menu. Resize, rotate or move your text to where you'd like it to appear on your iPod.
-
6
Click on the blank white square (where the "eye" logo was) to have the blank white space for the screen and click-wheel show up again. If it doesn't show up on your screen, select "Layer 2" from the Layers box to the right and drag that layer to the top of the list of layers. The white space should appear now.
-
7
Insert a piece of adhesive paper (sometimes titled "sticker paper") into your printer. Follow the instructions on the paper's package in order to have your iPod skin print correctly and not have to waste a bunch of sticker paper. Ensure that your template in Photoshop is how you want your skin to look and click "File --> Print" to print your skin. Cut along the border lines and the spaces for the screen and click-wheel. Peel and stick the skin onto your iPod.
