How to Make Caramel Fudge Nougats

Making fudge nougats can be a fun holiday tradition. You can develop your own flare by adding personal touches, such as caramels, nuts, or even white chocolate. These sweet candies require you to stir the concoction long enough to develop the candy's texture.   • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate graham crackers (crushed)
  • 3/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Cooking pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Non-stick baking dish (about 8-by-12)
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Storage container
  • 1 cup caramel squares

Instructions

  1. Making the Nougat

    • 1

      Mix sugar, flour, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in cooking pot over medium heat.

      Bring mixture to boil. Add caramel squares and stir constantly, continually scraping the sides of the pot as you stir.

      Stir your fudge mix for about 15 minutes, but avoid scorching.

      Remove your mixture from the stove. Add your graham crackers and nuts and stir. Add your chocolate and stir.

      Coat a baking dish evenly with cooking spray. Pour in mixture. Allow your fudge nougat to cool for about an hour.

      Cut your fudge nougat and place pieces in a storage container. Your fudge can be stored for up to one week.

  • You must stir your fudge constantly to develop a thick-glue-like texture and prevent burning.
