How to Install a Bluetooth Device for HP Laptop
Your HP computer that is running the Microsoft Windows operating system can connect to a Bluetooth device such as your cell phone or a Bluetooth headset. You HP computer can come with a Bluetooth adapter already installed or you can purchase a separate USB Bluetooth dongle. You can install a Bluetooth device on your HP laptop by first making sure that your laptop has been properly setup for Bluetooth connectivity.

Turn on the Bluetooth device by pressing the "Power" or "Talk" button on the device. The device is turned on when you hear a beep.

Make the device discoverable so that it can be detected by the computer. Follow the instructions that came with the device for making it discoverable.

Right click on the Bluetooth icon that is located in the Windows Taskbar and select "Add a Bluetooth Device" from the context menu.

Put a check in the "My device is setup and ready to be found" box and click the "Next" button to continue.

Select the Bluetooth device to add and click the "Next" button to continue.

Select an option for a passkey and click the "Next" button to continue. A connection request will then be sent to the device.

Press a button on the device to establish a connection to the computer. A mouse or keyboard will have a connection button on the bottom of the device.

Click the "Finish" button in the Installation Wizard to complete the Bluetooth setup.

Tips & Warnings
Press the "Answer" button on the headset if it rings when a connection is made with the computer.
Your computer will not recognize the Bluetooth device if it is not in "discoverable" mode.
