1
Cut your card stock into the desired square size. It should measure no larger than 5 inches by 6 inches to conserve space in the garden and to prevent shading plants that require sun. After cutting the card stock, write or type on one side of the card crop information such as sun and water requirements and height. On the other side of the card, clearly print or type the name of the crop or flower.

2
Attach the card stock to the wooden stake with a staple gun or plastic or wire ties threaded through each side and twisted together.

3
Insert each stake in between crops or at one end of each row. For flowers, place the stake at the base of each plant or bush.
-
4
Check the stakes regularly to ensure that the signs are still attached and that they haven't faded or become warped due to weather conditions.

Tips & Warnings
Laminating the card stock before attaching it to the stake may make it last longer during the growing season and may preserve the stake for future seasons.
Add pictures of ripe plants and flowers to help identify crops that are ready for harvesting.
