How to Make Loop & Loom Crafts
Making loop and loom crafts is fun and easy. Many of us remember making these types of crafts when we were kids. All you need to make these crafts is a loom and some loops, which are basically stretchy rings of fabric. Making a pot holder is usually the first craft that children and adults attempt using the loop and loom method. But many more types of crafts can be made with the same basic tools.
Things You'll Need
- 7-by-7 square loom
- Fabric loops
- Crochet hook
- Large needle
- Yarn (optional)

1
Decide what colors you want to use to make your project. You will want two sets of loops. These can all be the same color, two different colors, alternating colors or just a random assortment of colors.
-
2
Stretch one set of loops onto the hooks of the loom in one direction. This will determine the width of your project. If you want to make something thinner like a bookmark, stretch on fewer loops.

3
Weave the other set of loops up and over, up and over those loops until all hooks are filled in the opposite direction.
-
4
Finish the square or rectangle by pulling one loop through the next with a crochet hook until you have gone all the way around the square. This creates a chain around the outside of your project. If you want to attach the square or rectangle to another one, do not finish off the edges this way.
-
5
Make as many of these squares or rectangles as you need to complete your project. These finished shapes can stand alone as pot-holders or bookmarks, or they can be crocheted or sewed together to create purses, vests, headbands, belts, placemats, rugs or blankets.
