How to Convert DSS to MP3 or WAV
DSS is the file format used by portable recorders such as those manufactured by Olympus. While DSS files offer perfect integration with the devices that use them, they are not as versatile as MP3 or WAV audio. If you want to use your recorded DSS files in other programs on your computer, or send to others, it may be advantageous to convert them to MP3 or even WAV.

Tips & Warnings
Remember that while a high bitrate is best for music MP3 files, you can get away with a much lower rate - and smaller file size - if your DSS files are composed only of recorded speech.
MP3 files can be converted to WAV by importing into iTunes and opening iTunes' Preferences menu. In "Importing Options," choose "WAV encoder" and click "OK." Right-click (or command-click) on the MP3 files in iTunes and choose "Create WAV version". A WAV version of your MP3 will be stored in iTunes' "iTunes Music" directory.
