How to Disable a TV Coax Cable

There are many different ways to connect your TV to outside devices, ranging from RCA, component and even HDMI cables. However, the most used cable is a coaxial cable. This cable is a single cable that transports both the audio and video portions of the TV signal. Although the cable is rather easy to hook up, there are several areas that can effectively disable the coaxial cable.

Instructions

1. Power down one of the devices the coaxial cable is connected to. The cable sends the audio and video content between the two devices. If one is powered down the cable is not going to work.

2. Remove the coaxial cable from your TV or other device. Simply unscrew the cable from the port it is connected to. Once the cable loses contact, it is disabled.

3. Bend the metal pin inside of the cable. When you look at one of the ends you can see a single metal pin emerge. This needs to be connected to the port of the TV or other device. When the metal pin is bent it can not connect the two devices. The pin is rather thin so you can easily push around the pin.

4. Cut the coaxial cable. Like all other cables, if the cable has been completely cut through you can not use it. Cables are most often cut on corners of entertainment centers or by animals chewing it, however it is still possible to cut it with scissors or a knife.
