How to Use Proclaim Hair Relaxer

Proclaim Hair Relaxer can be found at many beauty supply stores in a white container on its own or in a kit. Although it is available to the public, Proclaim relaxer is recommended for professional use only. Unlike some other relaxer brands, Proclaim does not have to be mixed with activator because it has been premixed before packaging. It is important to remember that Proclaim, like with any other relaxer, must not be applied to hair that has been recently colored or relaxed. Does this Spark an idea?

    • 1

Apply petroleum jelly to the skin around your hairline, tips of your ears, skin around your ears, the sides of your neck near your hairline and behind your neck. Wrap the towel around your neck and shoulders and clip in front with a banana clip.

    • 2

Part the hair into four equal sections; two in front and two in back. Unclip one of the bottom two sections. Start from the bottom of this section and make a horizontal part about two inches from the neckline.

    • 3

Put on your gloves. Apply the relaxer from the root of the hair and smooth it down to the ends. Make another part two inches above this part and apply the relaxer to it. Once you have completed this section, repeat this process with each individually clipped section.

    • 4

Once you have applied the Proclaim to the entire head, smooth your hair down as if you are brushing it into a ponytail towards the crown of your head. Make sure the Proclaim covers all of your hair. Leave the relaxer in for the amount of time specified for your hair type (found on the instruction sheet).

    Removal

    • 5

Rinse the relaxer out, using lukewarm running water. Remove gloves.

    • 6

You will have to wash and rinse several times before the chemicals are fully removed.

    • 7

Apply deep conditioner, and put on your shower cap. You will leave this on for 20 to 30 minutes before removing.

    • 8

Remove shower cap. and rinse the conditioner out thoroughly with warm water. Apply leave-in conditioner and style as normal.
