How to Disassemble a 45 Glock
Glock Inc. produces a wide array of handguns, from the most popular 9mm pistol to a heavy .45 GAP. Glocks were introduced back in the early 1980's with mixed reviews as most handgun owners still were leery about owning a weapon with little metal parts. The F.B.I quickly picked up on the weapon as it evolved by 1985. It is now considered to be the standard for handguns used in field operations. Glock comes with a high price tag for its ultra smooth operational performance and unique design. Disassembly of a Glock 45 is a basic process and not unlike disassembling any "zip" style handgun.

Instructions

1
Remove the magazine and look to ensure that the chamber is cleared before attempting to disassemble the handgun. Ensure that no ammunition is present in the weapon, and move ammunition to a separate room for added security.
-
2
Locate the slide pin on the side of the weapon near the trigger-guard. This will be a square pin accessible from both sides of the weapon.
-
3
Pull the upper slide back to the rear, as if you're cocking the weapon, only a quarter of an inch and hold it in place with one hand.
-
4
Pull down on the slide release pin on both sides of the weapon simultaneously using your thumb and forefinger. As you pull this pin down slide the upper receiver away from you and off of the frame of the weapon.
-
5
Pull out the spring wrapped buffer on the upper receiver. This is seated in place without bracketing; simply pull it out.
-
6
Lift up on the bolt carrier (rifled barrel inside the receiver) and slide it out of the receiver at an angle. The weapon is now field stripped for cleaning.
