How to Record to a DVD From a Time Warner Cable Box
DVRs have changed the way many of us watch TV. Time Warner Cable, TiVo, and other cable or satellite providers now offer DVRs, usually for an additional monthly fee. Despite the convenience they provide for time-delaying your favorite shows, DVRs do have a limited capacity. If you record HD shows, the DVR's memory will fill up quickly. To avoid losing the shows that you are running out of room to store, you can output the shows to a DVD.

1
Take the RCA cables (the yellow, red, and white wires) and connect them from the input/output jacks marked "Video/Audio Out" on the back of the Time Warner cable box to the input/output jacks marked "Video/Audio In." Mach the color wires to the same color input jacks (white to white, yellow to yellow, red to red--in no specific order). Take note if the Video/Audio In on the DVD player has a number associated to it ("Video Input 2").

Check that the connection is correct by turning both the cable box and DVD player on, tune to any channel on the cable box, then switch to the TV input where you normally watch your DVD player/recorder. Change the source on the DVD recorder to whichever input you hooked the RCA cables. Whatever channel you tuned to on your cable box should be viewable on your TV through the DVD player/recorder showing on the corresponding DVD input.

Tips & Warnings
Once the show is finished and the DVD record has stopped, make sure to "finalize" the DVD through the menus on your DVD player. Finalizing a DVD enables it to play on any DVD player.
Make sure that the DVD is recording before you press the "A" button on your cable remote. If you press "A" before the DVD is recording, you will not record all of the content of the DVRed show onto the DVD.
