Things You'll Need:
- High-speed internet connection
- Windows Media Player
- iTunes
- VLC
- DivX
- Adobe Flash
-
Step 1
Get a high-speed Internet connection. For listening to news radio and particularly for streaming video news, a high-speed connection is essential. Dial-up connections don't have the bandwidth required for effective streaming of live news.
-
Step 2
Install media programs. Programs such as Windows Media Player, iTunes and VLC have built-in access to live news feeds. In the case of iTunes, the radio menu has almost 200 live news feeds covering everything from political commentary to local news. VLC has direct access to Shoutcast Radio and Shoutcast TV. Windows Media Player has dozens of news radio shows accessible with the Windows Media Guide Website.
-
Step 3
Install relevant plug-ins. DivX and Adobe Flash allow you to stream content through your web browser. Restart your browser after installing the programs.
-
Step 4
Go to the websites of your favorite news sources. CNN, NPR, Al Jazeera, Fox News and others stream breaking news through their websites. Many local news channels also have live streams that cover breaking news.
-
Step 5
Go to LiveNewsCameras.com. This website gives you access to many streaming news camera feeds from around the country. No matter what metropolitan area you are trying to get news from, LiveNewsCameras.com almost certainly has a feed.
