How to Design Your Own Memory Box
Life brings with it little treasures and mementos that have no real use, yet parting with these things can be like parting with intricate details of our past. To keep these items, turn a plain box into a treasured keepsake in it's own right. Designing your own memory box is easy and fun. Even if you don't consider yourself exceptionally creative, you can create a treasured memento to hold your treasured mementos.
Things You'll Need
- Box (see tips)
- Adhesive
- Scrapbook paper
- Stickers, ribbon, buttons, stamps, and any other decorative item you choose
- Archival quality journaling markers
- Archival quality clear sealant

Plan out the design. Choose colors, designs, stickers and more to reflect your personality or that of the person whose mementos the box will hold.

Cover the box in the paper you have chosen, adhering it with an adhesive of choice. Glue sticks actually work very well for this purpose.

Add stickers, ribbon, buttons, paper mementos, photos and any other decorative touch you have decided on. Make sure it is all archival quality or sprayed with an archival spray.

Write quotes, comments and notes on the box with the journaling markers to add personality and character. Your future self and future generations will enjoy seeing what was important and meaningful to you when you made the box.

Spray the entire box with a clear, archival quality sealing spray. This makes the box and decorations durable and ensures it will last for generations.

Tips & Warnings
Plain boxes are available at any craft supply store.
Many inks, papers and adhesive contain acids that will yellow or ruin your photos so be sure all materials used are acid-free, which is archival quality.
