How to Clean White Vinyl Siding

White vinyl siding can add beauty to your home, but only when it's clean. Dirty white vinyl siding can make your whole home look dingy and unwelcoming. Things You'll Need

• Ladder
• Hose
• Bucket
• Dish washing liquid
• Warm water
• Hand-pump garden sprayer
• Soft brush

Instructions

1. Set a ladder against your house and note where the white vinyl siding begins. Usually, this is near the roof.

2. Set the nozzle on your garden hose to medium. A strong spray could damage your home, while a light spray won't be powerful enough to fully rinse off siding. Spray the siding in a downward direction, making sure not to get any water under it.

3. Mix a large amount of dish washing liquid and warm water in a bucket. Add some of the soapy water to a hand-pump garden sprayer and leave the rest in the bucket.

4. Spray a 6-foot- to 7-foot-wide section of siding with the soapy water.

5. Dip a soft brush into the bucket of soapy water. Scrub the siding using a side-to-side motion. Make sure you have a brush that is long enough to reach the top of the siding. If you are using a shorter brush, use the ladder to reach higher spots.

6. Fully rinse each area of the siding with the garden hose.

Tips & Warnings

• Start with shady areas first since soap can dry quickly in sunny spots. If you must clean siding in the sun, be sure to rinse quickly.
