How to Configure a PC for a Projector
Using a projector is an excellent way to communicate with a large audience. The price of projectors has come down significantly since these devices first came on the market, but buying one is still a major commitment. Connecting your projector to a PC is not difficult, but it is important to take the right preliminary steps.

1
Turn off the projector and the PC and place both on a large flat surface like a desk or a conference table. Examine the projector to see what type of connection it uses. Some newer models use a USB interface, while older models will use a monitor cable instead. If the projector uses a USB cable you will see a very small square connector on the back. If it uses a monitor cable you will see a larger, standard connection.

Connect the appropriate cable to the projector first and then to the PC. If your projector uses a USB connection slide the flat end of the cable into a free USB slot on the PC. If the projector uses a monitor cable remove the monitor that is currently connected to your PC's "Computer In" port and replace it with the one running from the projector.

Turn on the projector and then power on the PC. Depending on the model of the projector you may need to push a button to select the PC as the input device. Watch the wall where the projector is pointed and wait for the PC display to come up. Then adjust the zoom and focus buttons on the projector until the display is clear.
