How to Remove a Toilet Seat Bolt
A toilet seat that is old or broken will need to be replaced with a new one. Toilet seats that are sold today are often made of plastic and may also be padded or even heated. This means that you no longer need to use a hard toilet seat. In order to install a new toilet seat, you will need to first remove the bolts that were used to secure the old toilet seat to the toilet bowl. Does this Spark an idea?

Pull up the bolt head cover tabs on the toilet bowl. If you cannot pull the tabs by hand, use a flathead screwdriver to pry them up.

Locate the nuts used with the bolt directly underneath the bolt.

Place a wrench over one of the nuts to hold it in place.

Remove the bolt by inserting the Phillips head screwdriver into the head of the bolt and turning it to the left.

Continue turning the screwdriver to the left until the you can pull the bolt out.

Repeat Steps 3 through 5 to remove the bolt on the opposite side.

Tips & Warnings
Apply spray lubricant to the threads of the bolt if the nut is difficult to remove.
The bolts used to secure the toilet seat may be made of plastic and can break if too much pressure is applied when trying to remove them.
