How to Cover Up Scratches on Kitchen Appliances

You can save significant money if you buy scratch-and-dent appliances. Even though these appliances come with some minor damage, they work just like new. When you get home, it's possible to cover up scratches on kitchen appliances to make scratch-and-dent items look brand new. These methods also work on existing appliances that you may have scratched over the years.

Things You'll Need

• All-purpose cleaner
• Cleaning pad with fine grain
• Appliance paint

Instructions

Stainless Steel Appliances

1. Spray an all-purpose cleaner on your appliance.

2. Use a cleaning pad with a fine grain to wipe the scratched area.

3. Use the pad to sand the appliance in one direction, moving in the same direction as the grain.

4. Scrub continually, without applying too much pressure, and the scratch will eventually fade.

All Other Appliances

1. Purchase the right shade of appliance paint so you get a close match. Check the paint bottle to see if it's compatible with the make and model of your appliance.

2. Clean the surface of your appliance, especially around the scratched area.

3. Apply a thin layer of appliance paint directly to the scratch.

4. Add additional coats of appliance paint as needed until you cover the scratch.
